Typical Applications

Select the wanted band in your receiver

VHF receiver filtering

Select the model aligned with the receiver’s VHF frequency plan and required signal bandwidth.

RF front-end signal selection

Use the specified passband and stopband limits to assess wanted-signal loss and out-of-band rejection.

Superheterodyne IF stages

Place the selected filter in the IF signal path and evaluate it with the actual preceding and following stages.

Functional application example only. This is not a validated schematic, pin-routing diagram or measured response.

Integration Notes

Confirm the interface and operating limits

Source, load and PCB conditions

Use the stated 50 Ω source and load test conditions as the evaluation reference. Confirm the actual circuit impedances and any matching requirements.

Check loss and ripple over the whole required signal band, then assess rejection at the system’s blocker frequencies.

Verify the applicable pad orientation, ground connections and PCB layout before design release.

Limits are model-specific

230M4, 231M25 and 232M5: maximum input power 10 dBm; maximum DC voltage 5 V.

234M: maximum input power 20 dBm; maximum DC voltage 10 V.

Maximum ratings are limits, not recommended operating targets. Keep operating temperature separate from storage temperature.

Engineering Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are these four models interchangeable?

No direct interchangeability is established. They share a 5.0 × 5.0 mm package, but center frequency, passband, loss, ripple, rejection and temperature range differ. Check the selected model and its PCB interface before substitution.

Are the listed passbands 3 dB bandwidths?

No. For 230M4, 232M5 and 234M, the listed intervals specify where insertion loss and ripple apply; 3 dB bandwidth is not specified. For 231M25, passband width is 12 MHz min. and 16 MHz typ., without a stated attenuation threshold.

Does 50 Ω mean no matching evaluation is needed?

No. The document specifies 50 Ω source and load test terminations. These conditions do not establish a universal match to every circuit. Evaluate the actual source, load and PCB fixture; 234M explicitly uses single-ended terminations.

Which operating temperature range applies to each model?

230M4 and 231M25 are specified for −40 to +85 °C; 232M5 for −20 to +65 °C; and 234M for −45 to +85 °C. Storage limits are separate and must not be used as operating limits.

How are the signal and ground pads assigned?

The supplied FCom document identifies pins 2 and 6 as Input/Output, pins 1, 3, 5 and 7 as Ground, and pins 4 and 8 as Case Ground for all four models. Use the applicable drawing to confirm pad orientation and signal routing.

What should I include in a technical inquiry?

Include the selected model or center frequency, required passband and bandwidth definition, source and load requirements, operating temperature, sample quantity and estimated usage. Add blocker frequencies and rejection targets where relevant. Confirm the full ordering code with FCom before ordering.
