Low EMI Series

Spread-Spectrum Clock Oscillators

FCom spread-spectrum oscillators distribute clock energy across a wider frequency range to reduce peak spectral amplitude in compatible digital systems. Choose center-spread or down-spread options across 3–200 MHz for automotive, industrial, medical and networking applications.

Choose the Right Spread-Spectrum Architecture

Center Spread
The output frequency moves both above and below the nominal frequency.
Available options: ±0.125% to ±2.0%
Down Spread
The output frequency is modulated below the nominal frequency without exceeding the specified upper clock limit.
Available options: ±0.25% to ±4.0%
No Spread (Off)
Disables modulation to output a standard, unmodulated digital clock profile.
Baseline Radiated Profile (0 dB)
Verified Under Defined Test Conditions
Spread-spectrum behavior is evaluated under defined output-frequency, modulation and measurement conditions to confirm the intended spread profile and peak-reduction characteristics.
*Production verification scope and spectrum documentation are available according to product series and project requirements.

How Spread Spectrum Reduces Clock Peaks

Spread-spectrum modulation varies the clock frequency slowly over time, distributing spectral energy across a wider frequency range and reducing the peak amplitude of the fundamental and its harmonics.
